Business Operations Manager (HR, Accounting, Admin)

Location: Dallas/Frisco, TX area (on-site)

Type: Full-time

Compensation: $75,000–$100,000 depending on experience, plus health insurance, paid vacation, and holidays

The role

townes builds software for the skilled trades. Harlan Homes builds houses. We’re hiring one person to own HR, accounting, and administrative operations for both.

This is a build role. If you want to design how a company runs its back office rather than maintain someone else’s system, this is that job.

What you’ll own

• Payroll and benefits administration across both entities, including onboarding, terminations, and I-9 and W-4 compliance

• Full-cycle bookkeeping in QuickBooks: AP, AR, reconciliations, month-end close, and job costing on the Harlan Homes side

• Subcontractor management: 1099s, W-9s, COI tracking, and lien waivers

• HR compliance for Texas employment law, workers comp audits, and benefits renewals

• General administrative support and vendor management for both companies

• Working with outside CPA and counsel on tax filings and entity-level items

What you need

• 6+ years in a combined accounting and HR or office management role at a company under 100 employees

• Owned the full payroll cycle end to end for at least 25 employees, not just data entry into someone else’s system

• Full-cycle bookkeeping through month-end close without a controller checking your work

• Hands-on QuickBooks and Stripe

• Working knowledge of Texas employment law and federal payroll compliance

• Comfort operating without supervision and switching between two businesses in the same day

• Discretion with compensation, personnel, and financial information
