Purpose of Position:
Del Monte Foods is the Foods Division of Fresh Del Monte, a global grower, producer and marketer of fresh, value-added, and shelf-stable produce. Del Monte Foods has a powerful portfolio of brands, including the iconic Del Monte®, Contadina® and S&W®. We are currently seeking a Senior Manager of Inventory & Deployment Execution.
The Senior Manager of Inventory & Deployment Execution is responsible for developing and executing comprehensive inventory strategies that align with the company's financial and operational objectives. Insuring in optimal network deployment to meet aligned case fill targets and transportation cost. This role oversees the entire product lifecycle, from new items to discontinuation, ensuring optimal inventory levels, providing visibility to surplus FG/BRITE stock, and maintaining high service levels. This role will lead cross-functional initiatives to enhance inventory accuracy, improve cash flow forecasting, and maintain monthly reviews with finance and for inventory reconciliation.
Accountabilities:
- Strategic Leadership & Team Management
- Lead and develop a team of Deployment Planners, providing strategic direction, coaching, and performance management to ensure alignment with customer service, inventory, and operational objectives.
- Provide oversight and guidance to the Product Lifecycle & Inventory Optimization function to ensure effective execution of inventory strategies across the product portfolio.
- Drive accountability and continuous improvement within the planning organization through standardized processes, metrics, and performance reviews.
Inventory Optimization & Excess Management
- Develop and execute inventory strategies that optimize service levels, working capital, and supply chain efficiency across finished goods inventories.
- Identify, analyze, and mitigate excess and obsolete inventory risks through proactive cross-functional action plans, minimizing financial exposure and write-offs.
- Monitor inventory health metrics and lead initiatives to improve inventory turns, reduce aging inventory, and enhance overall network efficiency.
Inventory & Cash Flow Planning
- Develop and maintain accurate inventory projections by integrating demand forecasts, production plans, deployment strategies, and supply chain constraints.
- Partner closely with Finance to support inventory-related cash flow forecasting and align inventory investment decisions with financial targets and budget expectations.
- Provide leadership visibility into inventory trends, risks, and opportunities through robust reporting and scenario analysis.
Finished Goods Safety Stock Management
- Establish, maintain, and continuously optimize finished goods safety stock policies to balance customer service objectives with inventory carrying costs.
- Utilize statistical analysis, demand variability trends, and supply performance data to adjust safety stock parameters and improve inventory resilience.
- Lead service-level performance reviews and implement corrective actions to address supply disruptions or forecast volatility.
Customer Service & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Customer Service, Sales, Operations, Business Units, and Supply Planning teams to proactively communicate service risks, inventory constraints, and recovery plans.
- Facilitate alignment across commercial and operational stakeholders to support customer fill-rate targets and business priorities.
- Serve as a key escalation point for deployment and inventory-related service issues, ensuring timely resolution and stakeholder communication.
Systems, Analytics & Continuous Improvement
- Evaluate, enhance, and standardize inventory management systems, deployment processes, and planning tools to improve scalability, accuracy, and operational efficiency.
- Leverage data analytics and KPIs to identify improvement opportunities and drive fact-based decision-making.
- Stay current on industry trends, supply chain best practices, and emerging technologies to drive innovation and continuous improvement within inventory and deployment operations.
Minimum Skills Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in supply chain, business, or related field.
- Master’s Degree preferred.
- 8+ years of proven and successful experience in Supply Chain and/or business discipline.
- Deep understanding of Inventory Management principles and systems in any or all Retail, eCommerce, and Wholesale
- Experience with Supply Chain Management and demand-based replenishment strategy.
- Experience with S&OP processes and procedures, customer planning and/or supply planning.
- Versed in supply chain financial metrics
- Superior analytical skills, with ability to dive in and quickly understand root cause and identify scalable solutions.
- Proven ability to define performance measures directly related to business and hold people accountable for such.
- Demonstrates the ability to think strategically and directionally while also able to understand and account for detailed operational realities
- Understanding of supply chain product flows in a manufacturing and/or retail/ecommerce environment
- Agile learner and ability to operate & balance risk in a fast paced, changing environment
- Experience with Supply Chain IT transaction systems and information flow.
- Experience with using a balanced scorecard to track performance
- Excellent customer service focus and results oriented.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Computer skills, including SAP, WMS, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Experience with some or all aspects of the supply chain, including planning, purchasing, transportation, warehousing, deployment, and inventory management is ideal.
- Experience with advanced planning or demand planning software experience preferred.
