Job Overview
We are seeking to hire an
Business Operations Manager for the Center on Gender Justice & Opportunity at Georgetown Law – Georgetown University. This position is key to the successful operation of the Center. This position oversees all administrative tasks; serves as the "face" of the Center by greeting guests and serving as the main point of contact for our professional partners; and liaisons with offices throughout the law school and University to support the Center’s hiring, budgeting, event, and communication needs. This position is responsible for a wide range of tasks and areas related to HR, personnel, grant management, scheduling, requisitions, contracts, and events. This position is hybrid, requiring at least one day a week in the office.

Duties Include But Are Not Limited To
- Managing the Center's budget and grants via Georgetown's operating management system
- Drafting contracts, including scopes of work, for independent contractors and consultants
- Managing contracts, including ensuring contractors meet milestones and are paid promptly
- Managing submission of expense reports and reimbursement forms
- Monitoring the Center's receipt of donations and cultivating strong relationships with donors
- Hiring, on-boarding, and off-boarding personnel in cooperation with Executive Director
- Supervising student workers in meeting Center policies
- Cultivating strength of staff relationships by facilitating all-team meetings and team-building activities
- Drafting content for and distributing mass communications, such as the Center’s newsletters and updates, via MailChimp or GetResponse
- Representing the Center at meetings and student-facing events
Work Interactions
The Business Operations Manager will be an integral part of our team, working closely with (and reporting to) the Executive Director and other staff to support the Center on Gender Justice & Opportunity’s work and ensure the professionalism and smooth operation of the Center. The Business Operations Manger will play a critical role in supporting the overall operations of the Center, which includes managing relationships with students and partners.
The Business Operations Manager will also work with the Center & Institutes' Management Office and Financial Office on tasks relating to finances, events, hiring, and HR processes. In addition, this position will interact with students, external partners, contractors, and staff across Georgetown campuses.
Requirements And Qualifications
This position requires a bachelor’s degree and at least four years of professional full-time experience handling operations or administrative tasks, including financial management, preferably in an academic setting. The position entails a wide range of tasks relating to the Center’s operations needs, which requires attention to detail; organizational and interpersonal communication skills; innovative approaches to challenges; fluency in working with online management systems; the ability to multi-task and adapt to changing operational needs; and an openness to flexibility in contributing to the Center’s small staff as a team player.
The position demands the capacity to present a polished and professional face of the Center. Ideal applicants will be skilled in time management, able to handle competing demands, as well as effectively and respectfully communicate with colleagues. We seek candidates who are self-motivated and self-sufficient, able to develop innovative solutions and work within a framework of changing priorities, and enjoy working in a small-team setting.
Other Requirements Include
- Bachelor’s degree and at least 4 years of relevant experience;
- Fluency in GetResponse, MailChimp, WordPress, and other online communication platforms;
- Fluency in Excel, PowerPoint, WorkPress, and GetResponse;
- Strong interpersonal, communication skills;
- Strong commitment to collaboration and teamwork;
- Ability to manage and drive projects forward independently;
- Life experience and/or demonstrated commitment to issues that affect marginalized girls and women is strongly preferred;
- Experience working in higher education or for a non-profit is strongly preferred.
Work Mode Designation
This position has been designated as Hybrid, requiring at least one day in the office per week. Pay Range
The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:
$21.16 - $35.29
Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
